Again raising the bar musically, technologically and culturally, the world’s #1 DJ Armin van Buuren stepped off the stage Saturday night after a hair-raising spectacle that was his ground-breaking show at The World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden. Together with the other cherry-picked artists on the New York date of the “A State Of Trance 600– The Expedition” world tour – Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz, W&W and Alex M.O.R.P.H. – van Buuren and his team brought the world an electronic dance music (EDM) performance it will not soon forget.
Not only was the exuberant crowd of 13,500 fans treated to one of the best live EDM shows to ever hit New York, but music lovers from around the world were also able to share in the experience via van Buuren’s A State Of Trance (ASOT) radio show (www.AStateOfTrance.com) which broadcast the entire MSG event live. Millions of listeners tuned-in from around the world to hear the show as it happened. Van Buuren and his team built an onsite radio studio at MSG, and aside from the 90 minutes during his own DJ set, van Buuren hosted his ASOT radio show as the live performances proceeded to a packed and screaming arena. The ASOT radio session was also streamed live via YouTube and hundreds-of-thousands of viewers from around the globe joined the party. A few lucky fans were even able to ask Armin questions, live and on-the-air.
“[Van Buuren’s] transitions are very tight…and he’s an expert at building and releasing tension.” ~ The Huffington Post
“The world’s longstanding No. 1 DJ, Armin van Buuren, will stand where the Stones jammed; where Lady Gaga gyrated and shed faux blood…and countless other sports and music legends have performed before…this Netherlands born producer maintained an air of calm and friendliness.” ~ Vibe.com
FUSE TV was on-hand to capture footage to air in a later episode of “Fuse News.” Footage of the evening will also be premiered on MTV accompanied by van Buuren’s latest single, “This Is What It Feels Like” featuring Trevor Guthrie (W&W Remix), from van Buuren’s new studio album, Intense (ANA/Armada North America). Accolades are still pouring in from industry trades including Billboard as well as from countless fan sites and blogs.
This date was part of the world premiere of the New World Punx, the new group consisting of electronic music titans, Markus Schulz and Ferry Corsten. Playing as a duo in an exhilarating, choreographed set, the New World Punx (NWP) brought the already frenzied crowd to their feet for the duration of the night. With custom manga characters projected behind the artists on MSG’s mega screens, the NWP act was positively electrifying. Preceding NWP were the DJ/production duo of W&W, rapidly rising stars in their own right. The euphoric sounds of Alex M.O.R.P.H. warmed-up the night as fans had the arena fully packed before the first note rang-out. Armin van Buuren took the final DJ slot and lit up the night with a soaring visual and pyrotechnics display, complete with a live performance by Trevor Guthrie of “This Is What It Feels Like.”
